What is the Pupil Premium Grant?

The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is funding, allocated from the Government, to support the narrowing of the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and all other pupils. Disadvantaged pupils are defined as children who are in receipt of Free School Meals or have been in receipt of Free School Meals in the last 6 years, are adopted or have a parent serving in the armed forces.

Aims of the document:

 This document aims to:

  • Outline the amount of Pupil Premium Grant funding that the school has received to support Pupils this academic year.
  • Outline how that money has/will be spent to support learning of disadvantaged pupils.
  • Illustrate the impact of the Pupil Premium Grant funding on the progress of disadvantaged pupils in the school using data from last academic year 2015/16.

How the Money Supports Disadvantaged Pupils

All children in the school have access to the support purchased with the pupil premium grant money but priority is given to those children in receipt of Pupil Premium Grant monies to ensure that disadvantaged children will benefit.

The school has used the money to buy the following support:

 

Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator:

The SENCO is able to complete paperwork, meetings and assessments relating to the special educational needs of pupils.

Expected Impact:

Individual pupil needs are identified

Parental engagement is undertaken regarding pupils with special educational needs

Coordination with outside agencies regarding individual pupil needs

Inclusion Teaching Assistant and Special Educational Needs Resources:

This enables the school to provide an Inclusion Teaching Assistant, together with specific resources, to work with individual and small peer groups to support pupils' learning.

Achievement will be increased

Pupil engagement and self-esteem will improve

Will enable small group work

Will assist pupils to gain secure knowledge

Classroom Resources:

Enables the teaching staff to provide educational resources to assist in the teaching and learning environments of the classroom.

Forest School Resources :

Our Forest School is held on a wooded part of the school grounds and will encourage and inspire pupils of all ages through positive outdoor experiences.  By participating in engaging, motivating and achievable tasks and activities in a woodland environment the pupils are able to grow in self-esteem and confidence.

Pupil engagement and self-esteem will improve

Will enable multi-sensory work

Improvements in confidence and social skills

Additional Swimming Lessons:

Additional sessions to preserve and enhance abilities learned during mandatory sessions and to encourage the development of a healthy lifestyle for pupils.

After-School Sports Clubs:

Additional funding to enable free after-school sports clubs to increase participation and engagement in sports by disadvantaged pupils.

Outdoor Adventure Learning and Enhanced Learning Environments:

Additional funding to enable access to outdoor adventure learning, available via the Y5/6 residential trip, and enhanced learning environments via school trips throughout the year.  These learning environments allow for collaborative learning experiences with a high level of physical and social challenge.

Improvements in confidence and social skills

One to One Tuition Targeting Specific Learning Difficulties

One to one tuition targeting specific learning difficulties where a teacher gives a pupil intensive individual support. This is undertaken outside of normal lessons as additional teaching.

Individually targeted work

Assisting pupils to gain confidence in their learning

Investment in digital technology to support learning throughout the curriculum

Funding to allow for digital technology to be provided to enable the use of targeted software to enhance the learning experience of pupils within the classroom environment.
